The other day when I got dressed, I put on this crewneck sweater, jeans and boots, but the outfit still didn’t feel finished
It felt too utilitarian and not visually interesting enough. Then I remembered the ‘third piece rule.’ It contends that adding a third piece to an outfit (a top layer, a scarf, a hat, etc.) often makes it feel finished. So I grabbed my plaid blazer and voila! a completed outfit. Bonus: the wool blazer kept me warmer indoors and out. When the temps dropped at night I topped the outfit with my cocoon coat which very easily fit over the blazer.
A backpack purse helps keep the look casual.OUTFIT DETAILS:
Oversized Blazer (4, I sized down), Everlane
ReCashmere Vintage Crew (4) in Heathered Clay, c/o Everlane
Jeans, vintage Levi’s 517’s, Etsy (similar)
Ralf Combat Boot (10), Freda Salvador
Backpack, old (very similar)
Medallion Necklace, Missoma
Yesterday, per my usual, I was stumped on what to wear. Then I remembered a look I’d seen on someone the night before that I particularly liked (featuring wide leg pants and clogs), so I did my best to recreate it.
I like having the option for pull-on wide leg pants verses a fitted, zippered pair. It makes them feel a little more casual and lounge-y. But they also look chic with heels too.

I started out this month with the goal of posting my OOTD’s in real time, but the reality is that it’s not meshing well with my workflow. After today I will switch to a weekly outfit roundup format. I hope that’s okay with you!
