This beautiful beaded necklace is from the Art Deco (ca1930s) era! This lovely necklace has a simple and stylish design that reflects its Chinese origin. An ensemble of natural aquamarine beads are strung on silver chain, meeting at a complimentary clasp in the back. Alternating with the aquamarine beads are delicate coiled wire spacers, as well as 4 silver filigree beads that are interspersed throughout the design. Each of the silver filigree beads displays a fine wirework technique known as "spun silver," which is commonly used in Chinese jewelry. The aquamarine beads exhibit a wonderful range of light blue colors, and include a combination of rounded and flattened sides, producing a unique shape. All of the beads display normal inclusions that are visible both internally and along the surface, accentuating their natural and organic appearance. An additional aquamarine stone is set within the clasp, contained within a decorative spun silver bezel. Stamped on the back of the push clasp is "SILVER" and "CHINA." When worn, the necklace drapes nicely just above the collar bone. This lovely vintage piece would look equally beautiful worn alone, or paired with other beaded accessories!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 17.5" in total length. The aquamarine and silver filigree beads measure between 10-12mm in size.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. The stringing is secure, and the clasp is in good working condition. All of the aquamarine beads vary in size, shape, and color, and display visible natural inclusions. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver clasp, spacers, and filigree beads, which is a normal characteristic of silver jewelry from this era.
