This organic, rustic cloud necklace is adorned with a round, a particularly luminous amethyst stone, bezel set and soldered to an organic copper cloud shape from which hang three freeform amethyst drops. All are connected to a chain of beaded copper links in rose quartz and faceted amethyst and sterling silver chain. The clasp is hand forged copper in my bird mother shape-- reminiscent of ancient bird mother iconography.
Necklace measures 17 1/2" or 44cm. The pendant is 2 1/4" or 6cm including amethyst drops.
While creating this piece I was reminded of the elaborate costuming and cosmic world building of the jazz musician Sun Ra who has had a big influence on my work in general.
All my jewellery is made by hand by my partner Mike and myself in a converted 18th century naval school on the wild North coast of Scotland. All pieces come gift wrapped with lavender and Scottish heather.
