For offer today, I have this wonderful vintage Native American fetish bird necklace!
This pretty beaded necklace features carved, multi-color, mother of pearl (MOP) birds that alternate with heishi shell beaded sections. There are fourteen birds in the necklace that alternate in colors of red, blue, yellow, pink, orange and white. The carved details of the birds also alternate in style, adding visual interest and beauty to the piece. The heishi shell beads are light and dark brown and add a nice contrast to the MOP birds. A lovely freeform turquoise nugget sits in the very center of the necklace. The necklace is long and colorful, and the MOP birds give off a wonderful iridescence when the light hits them. It's a beautiful necklace!
The necklace measures about 30 inches long and the heishi shell sections are about 3mm wide. The MOP birds are approximately 3/4 inch in width but are handmade and vary slightly in size. The necklace closes with a silver barrel clasp. The necklace is unsigned.
This is such a marvelous necklace! With its wonderful colors, it could be worn with most any outfit. It would really stand out on white, and I think it would look fabulous worn with a crisp white tee, nice jeans and lots of silver bangles. It would make a fantastic gift for the Native American jewelry collector and a nice addition to a jewelry collection. The necklace is in excellent vintage condition and ready to wear!
